2008: Tour de Romandie

Fri 22.8. Aarau - Brugg - Baden - Zürich - Zug, 96km (4:56)

8:30 depature, I ride along the Aare toward Arrau, not direct via bicycle trail but normal street to Suhr, Hunzenschwil, Lenzburg where I eat quickly - further to Brugg via Othmarsingen and then Brugg/Windisch and further to Baden on the main street to Zurich until "Baendlistrasse" where I recommend to take the bicycle trail again - further to Escher-Wyss Platz, main train station until reaching Bellevue and Bürkliplatz where I eat lunch - further then to Wollishofen and heading toward "Luzern" (Lucerne) via Sihltal, Adliswil, Langnau am Albis, Sihlbrugg - the sky is cover by clouds and a few rain drops but no rain yet really - via bicycle trail through Baar back to Steinhausen/Zug. Thanks!

Official Bicycle Trails vs Direct Streets

I recall riding a few years back Lenzburg - Biel within a day and apprx. 106km on bicycle trail no 5, and then continued from Biel to Lausanne taking a day as well, apprx. 126km. This time I rode Morges/Gollion to Aarau within a day and it took "only" 178km!

  • Bicyle Trail: Lenzburg - Biel - Yverdon - Lausanne: ~232km
  • Normal Street: Aarau - Biel - Yverdon - Morges: ~178km

The difference are over 30% longer route on the bicycle trail!
