3 Days Hike: San Carlo - Maggia - Tegna

Exceptional, actually "record breaking" warm temperatures for April in Switzerland, like 27°C and I decided to hike a valley in northern part of Ticino: Valley Bavona.

I took the train 6:30 in Zug to Locarno, from there two busses finally 10:45 arrived in San Carlo - the last part the street is paved by only as wide as the bus itself - so very little traffic there.

Leaving San Carlo and slowly descending into the valley - the trees growing their early leaves, and the route is close to the street, crossing over the Bavona river left and right. Once a while a small group of houses not really qualifying a village, but rather a neighbourhood and short before Bignasco I find a spot aside a big boulder to pitch my tent for tonight.

After a long and good sleep, and quickly reach Bignasco - and again switch the river Maggia - the river Bavona entered the Maggia - and the river and its beaches become wider and wider and more water flowing. The hiking path isn't purely flat along the river, but a bit aside - eventually short before the village Maggia giving the river its name, near the village Lodano I find a spot to pitch my tent for tonight.

Last leg of my hike, and the most exhausting - the route starts flat but as I approach Gordevio, the valley narrows and the hiking path gets very steep, and partially slippery from the water from melting snow higher up - so with the heavy backpack each step requires full attention. Around 14:00 I arrive at Ponte Brolla train station, where this hike ends.
