3 Days Hike: Verzasca Valley

While in the north cooler and rainy days, in the southern part of Switzerland stable sunny and slightly warmer weather conditions, and I decided to hike again a small valley, the Verzasca valley.

Arrived ~12:30 in Sonogno by bus, the mountain slopes nearby still snow covered, the air temperature is ~12C, in the sunlight above 15C. I slowly descend the valley, it's rather flat, partially in the forest, but closely follow the nearby river of Verzasca. A short leg for the first day, near Gerra I find a nice spot for tonight, still sunlight and warm wind.

The night was chilly, perhaps 4-5C in the early morning, and await the sun which arrives late 10:30, but immediately the temperature jumps to 15C when the sun hits the tent. Soon take off the jacket, and continue with two layers of shirts - just after Lavertezzo, a place called "Campioi", an abandoned place with a single building, I find a nice spot for today. The sun descends quickly on the nearby mountain, and I have shadow just 16:30 and the temperature falls quickly.

Good sleep, night temperature perhaps 8C, when the sun hits the tent about 9:30, and continue the hike thereafter - still partially in the forest I reach the some river barrier and switch side to continue to Vorogno - the hiking trail is ascending 100-150Hm into the forst, and eventually descending Pregossa and then Vogorno, where I take the bus around 13:00 for Tenero, and then the train back home.

As you can see on the photos, the spring time hasn't arrived nature-wise yet, the leaves of the trees aren't out yet, the meadows are somewhat green, but barely flowers blooming yet. The days were mild temperature-wise, but nights were chilly.

The river Verzasca was crystal-clear green-blue tainted - just beautiful.
